Weird Film Pack Explained: Thermal, Infrared, VHS & More

7 min read · Filters

Not every Poly photo needs to look like a memory from 1978. Sometimes you want a photo that looks like it escaped from a sci-fi film, a haunted VHS tape, or a satellite scan. That is what Poly's Weird Film pack is for — five experimental emulations that trade nostalgia for surrealism.

LÖMUR — thermal heat-map surrealism

LÖMUR renders your scene like a thermal camera, turning warm bodies into glowing oranges and cool shadows into deep blues and purples. It is a strange, beautiful way to shoot a crowd, a campfire, or anyone standing in direct sun. Use it when the emotional temperature of a scene matters more than the literal one.

DREKI — infrared dreamscapes

DREKI mimics infrared film, where green foliage turns ghostly white or pink and skies deepen to near-black. It is built for landscapes, parks, and anywhere with plenty of leaves — the more green in frame, the more dramatic the transformation.

SKRÍM — VHS horror static

SKRÍM adds scan lines, chromatic smear, and a flicker of static, like a found-footage tape left in a drawer too long. Perfect for late-night shots, Halloween, or turning an ordinary hallway into something unsettling.

FROSINN — cyanotype blue wash

FROSINN bathes the whole frame in the deep Prussian blue of cyanotype prints, one of photography's oldest processes. It flattens color into a single moody tone — striking on architecture, snow, and anything with strong shapes and lines.

NÓTT — night vision green

NÓTT turns your polaroid into a night-vision goggle frame: glowing green tones, soft grain, and a sense that something is about to happen. Great for camping trips, night walks, or leaning fully into the horror-movie bit.

Weird Film vs the classic pack

Poly's classic film pack — FLÄRN, SOLVA, BRÖKK, VYLUR, and GRÅLT — is built to feel like real analog stock: warm, faded, believable. Weird Film is the opposite instinct; none of these five filters are trying to look like any camera that ever existed. Premium unlocks the complete Weird Film pack alongside the classic emulations, so you can switch between "memory" and "mystery" on the same photo.
